Strength Development for Men’s Gymnastics teaches you to successfully create an effective year round strength program that includes both overall strength and strength specific to individual skills. Mizo covers basic physiology as it relates to men’s gymnastics including both anaerobic and anabolic strength, different types of overall strength needed for men’s gymnastics, specific strength exercises and Plyometrics. He shows how to structure an annual program and how to develop specific exercises to meet the specific needs of individual athletes. The video includes film from Mizos’ gym that demonstrates several of the exercises and drills and apparatus for developing specific strength.

Hideo "Mizo" Mizoguchi
For 10 years, Coach Hideo Mizoguchi was the USA Gymnastics Technical Director for the Junior Olympic National Program. Prior to that, he was the Junior Coach for four years of eventual 1984 Olympians Tracee Talavera and Julianne McNamara. "Coach Mizo" as he is known throughout the gymnastics community, competed in the Elite Japanese program in the 1970's until lower back injury shortened his career. He holds a masters degree in Physical Education from the University of Oregon. (More Info)
